Cancer drugs being negotiated faster than ever

New data shows negotiation timelines for oncology drugs dropped to 5 months in 2024, their lowest level ever.

This is down from 9 months in 2020, meaning timelines have been almost cut in half.

Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, with 2 in 5 Canadians expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. This is why we’ve put efforts into speeding up negotiations for oncology drugs, allowing patients to receive public coverage faster.

Many of these new drugs are complex and expensive, making our negotiations essential for ensuring public drug plans can remain sustainable.

We look forward to another successful year negotiating drugs for patients who need them.
